Project Samartha

Project Samartha

Pune is a metropolitan city and it is growing economically because of the varied and constant IT sector development. But one third of the population lives in slum areas of Pune. The slum areas of Ramoshiwadi, Wadarwadi, and Janwadi are the slum areas where the project Samartha is going to be implemented. In these particular slums, most of the communities all belong to the Nomadic tribes like Ramoshi, Wadar, and Nathpanthi communities, who are socio-economically backward. As a result, the literacy rate is also very low, so such communities have very few livelihood opportunities.

Most of the families are working as construction labourers, and the women of these communities are working as housemaids in various multi-storied societies. Women who are financially supported are working in multiple places to take care of their families

Objective :

  • To establish an oil procurement unit in slum communities for the empowerment of underprivileged women.
  • Incorporating technological advancement to generate income, primarily for the female entrepreneur group.
  • creating a sustainable business model that can provide financial stability to underprivileged women who are living in slum areas
